The do's and don'ts of letter writing
Some random tips to help you with writing your fanmail ^^
Sorry if
you disagree with anything I say, feel free to do it as you wish!!
★ Keep your letter/email a reasonable length. As much as you want them to read your lifestory they probably don't want to read through pages of random babble about the first time you rode your bike XD
☆ If you're writing to them in English or another language besides Japanese then try your best not to use too much slang because it is not their first language it might confuse them
★ Dig out that dusty dictionary and make sure you spell words correctly XD Mispelt words are most likely to confuse them even more >w<
☆ If you're writing in Japanese then, what can I say? Good luck!! But please don't try and be clever by using translation sites because they come out with anything and everything...do you really want to tell Aoi his "pig five guitar like curtains had"? If you're confident try using your own skills or getting a friend whose Japanese you trust to help you write it...otherwise you might be telling Ruki that you ate his purple duck XD
★ Don't focus the letter solely on the band's physical style. Although you could add a few comments about how much you loved their outfits in a certain photoshoot/PV etc [providing it's a nice one!!] I think they'd prefer to read more about their music. It's what they work the hardest on and recognition of their talent is bound to make them smile ^w^
☆ Don't write anything negative about the band or any members in your letter, please. It's rude and disrespectful. They put a lot of work into everything they do so saying something negative won't exactly make them feel great [but...there's nothing negative about them anyway x__x]. Positive things are always better for everyone!!
★ As obvious as this might seem do not, I repeat, DO NOT write things that might make them think you're a stalker o~O;; This will most likely scare them into taking various security measures like taking a bodyguard out with them when they just want a carton of milk...or they'll just find it hilarious and discard your letter >w<
☆ Try to respect them as people and at least try to realise that spiteful comments might hurt them. Also try to repect that they have private lives like you. Just because they're famous it doesn't mean that everyone has to know everything about them so avoid asking very personal questions.
★ As much as you might want them to perform near to where you live, don't try and force them. In the end it's their choice if they want to travel there or not. Perhaps mention how amazing it would be for them to have a live near you but don't go on and on about it
☆ Say thank you!! Recognition of everything they've done for their fans will make them feel proud of themselves ^^
★ Please please pleeease don't write anything that might be seen as suggestive or could be classed as sexually explicit e.g nude photos etc. Yuh...as nice as you think your body looks it's not exactly pleasant for them [sorry, not in an insulting way!!] and Ruki even admitted he didn't find naked people erotic...so I highly doubt that any member would want a picture of some random naked fan they've never met in their life coming through their letter box >w>;;
☆ I guess keep yaoi fanart or fanfics that emphasise a relationship between two of the members to yourself and your friends. It might insult them and may even drive two members apart if they think that fans think of them in that way...
★ Presents aren't necessary but are always nice!! Handmade things are especially lovely and they'd probably really appreciate it ^^ But if you're so uncreative you can't make things for your life then why not get them something that they could use of wear, such as a necklace or a bracelet but kkeeping in mind who you're buying for...a lip ring isn't exactly an ideal present for Reita XD
☆ Don't ask them to send you autographs, photos, CDs or whatever. If they want to send you something they will but I wouldn't bother asking...as for the CDs you should be buying them anyway, ne? X3
★ Unless you're writing to the band as a whole don't forget to write the name of the member you're sending the letter to!!
☆ PS Company have asked not to send food, drink, living animals, plants or anything that requires freezing, refrigeration or special care
★ Finally, please don't be offended if they do not reply to you. Apparantly PS Company have a system which prevents the members from replying to their fans ~~ but don't let that stop you from writing!! Your letter will definitely be greatly appreciated and they'll be happy they have such caring fans ^^
